The Academy of Riding at SonRise Stables proudly offers weekly summer camps in May, June and July, and August. Camps run from 9am to 4pm with before and after hour supervision available for $10 per hour and are open to ages 7-14. No experience with horses required, however if a child has experience with horses camp lessons can be adjusted accordingly.
Campers will learn basic horse care and knowledge, as well as correct terms and techniques for English riding. Daily curriculum includes: safety procedures, grooming, bathing, saddling, parts of the horse, parts of the tack, horse colors and markings, and simple veterinary care lessons. Riders are guaranteed riding lessons each day because of our wonderful indoor arena that allows camp to continue even in inclement weather. Riding lessons include: safety procedures, two-pointing at the walk and trot, posting trot, steering and controlling the horse, and incorporate games on horseback to provide a safe and fun learning experience for all riders.
Each week will end with a fun “show” for parents to come and watch all that the riders have learned. Riders should wear long pants and a shoe with a heel for riding but can bring a change of clothes if they want, and also bring a water bottle and lunch from home. Campers can enjoy their lunch, craft time, and daily lessons in the air-conditioned loft. Cost for camp is $350 per week.
Reservations require a non refundable deposit of $100. All campers must have a signed release form before participating in riding lessons.
NOTE: Intermediate Camp involves more advanced concepts and exercises. Students attending this should be enrolled in an active lesson program and capable of walk, trot, and canter level exercises.
NOTE: Jumping Camp only available to those currently capable of 18" courses at the canter.
All Camps $350 with a $100 Non-refundable Deposit
